My husband has wanted pigs for quite a while. I have heard how terrible they are to have on a farm - they smell, they break out of every fence, they are mean, etc. My response was always "no way, Jose." (His name is not Jose.) Fast forward to a few weeks ago.
The conversation starts with "So there are some pigs that need to find a new home and they are free." Hmmm. Free is always nice. So then I start to consider the idea of having pigs. As it turned out, they were not free. But they were very reasonably priced and they are not too big. Needless to say, I agreed. I figured that worst case scenario, they will be here for a few months and then we never have to have them again.
My husband and some friends fenced in an area with two strands of barbed wire and two strands of electric wire. A couple of weeks later, we have pigs.
What I have discoverd so far is that they do not stink. Additionally, they appear to be happy and have not attempted to get out of the fence and are kind of cute. Something else I discovered is that they come when they are called.
I already want more.
